“Everything looks fabulous,” the female murmurs.
The man taps the side of the case.
My hope sparks. “A Blissful Dawn cupcake?”
He nods, so I reach for a bag.
“Don’t bother.” He digs in his wallet. “We’re going to eat it now.”
The blonde returns to his side, her eyes glittering with anticipation.
He peels back the paper cup and lets her take a bite.
A subtle vibration rushes through my chest.
The blonde giggles. “Your turn.” She pushes his hand back to his mouth.
The young man’s gaze never leaves her face as half the cupcake disappears between his lips.
The sensation of his melting heart flutters through the air. It’s the infusion of pink petals from Nana’s musical mimosas.
When he holds up what’s left of the fluffy vanilla treat, her eyes sparkle with pleasure.
I sigh. It doesn’t happen every day, but when it does… Zing!
Her eyes. His eyes. They’re inside their own universe.
I don’t even try to suppress the enormous grin exploding across my face. When the couple leaves the bakery, I follow them to the door. I can’t stop watching their backs as they stroll down Perry Street, holding hands. They’re glowing.
